About Iron Dragon Games
Iron Dragon Games is a one-person studio that makes free games you can play right in your browser, along with a growing set of camera-based augmented reality experiments. There is nothing to download, no account to create, and no paywall.
Who makes these
The games are made by Vance Naegle. I have worked in the games industry for more than 25 years, on large games, small games and a few indie titles. Iron Dragon Games is the game-making side of Iron Dragon Studios, my digital media company. You can find the studio's art and visualization work at irondragonstudios.com.
What you will find here
- Arcade-style games. Bad Triangles is a side-scrolling space shooter, Breakout is a brick-breaker, Avoid is an asteroid-survival game, and Zapper is a galaga-style formation shooter. Each one works on desktop, tablet and phone, saves your high scores on your own device, and has a short how-to-play guide.
- AR experiments. The AR Fun section has camera-based experiences that run in your phone's browser, including a tree you place in your room and a poster that turns into a window.
- A dev blog. On the Dev Blog I write about how things get built, the bugs that cost me an evening, and what I learned fixing them.
How it is built
Every game is hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no engine and no build step, and the sound effects and music are generated in the browser instead of loaded from audio files. Development is a mix of determination, caffeine, and Claude Code, an AI coding assistant that helps with the programming.
How the site pays for itself
The games are free. The site shows advertising through Google AdSense to help cover hosting and development time. Details on cookies and your choices are in the privacy policy.
